Each week a Burglary Report is published for the Borough and this is available for members of the local community to view through the ‘In the Know’ website.

Since the beginning of January 2020 to 27th February 2020 no burglaries have been reported in the Horley area. Please continue to consider Crime Prevention advice in securing your property, which can also be found through the links below.

You will be able to get the weekly burglary update and the Country Watch updates for Reigate and Banstead, including the Horley area. The site will also tell you about Scams, Crime Prevention, arrests/convictions and provide information on plans and changes to improve Policing in Surrey.  The ‘In the Know’  website also allows you to link to your local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
Road/Bridge Closure Mill Lane/Lee Street
9th March for 2 weeks

Start Date: Monday 9 March 2020
Duration: 2 weeks  24 hours a day/7 days a week

Mill Lane/Lee Street will need to remain closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the duration of this scheme. Due to the nature of the works there will not be sufficient space to maintain vehicle access across the bridge.

There will be pedestrian, cyclist and equestrian access through the closure area. Access for emergency vehicles, local residents and businesses will be maintained via Reigate Road, Brighton Road and Vicarage Lane.

Date for your Diary

New Allotment Site at Westvale Park

The Southern Allotment site at Westvale Park, close to the Neighbourhood Centre, will cover an area of approximately one acre.  It was anticipated that the allotments would be ready for occupation by mid-2020, however the Developers have been slower than we'd hoped in completing the planning process.  It is thought that the Developers will put in a pre-application submission to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, sometime during Spring 2020.

Once the legal transfer of the site to Horley Town Council has taken place (likely to be early-mid 2021)  we will be able to accept details of potential plot holders onto our waiting list.  We will keep our website updated with information as we receive it and there will also be updates here in our enewsletter.
Horley Recreation Ground Tennis Courts Closed

The Courts closure began on Wednesday 26 February so that we could begin work on a much needed refurbishment. The works will take several weeks and we hope to have photographs to share soon.
How Surrey County Council prioritise roads for maintenance works

Road maintenance works are prioritised using some of the following different criterias.
  • The risk to the public - calculated by looking at the number of insurance claims and repairs carried out.
  • The road condition - as assessed by an engineer.
  • The road priority - highest priority is given to roads with the greatest usage. Road classes    (A / B / C / D), speed limits and daily amounts of traffic are all factors.
This ensures the funding is used on the roads and pavements that are in the greatest need of treatment in a fair and consistent manner across the county.
More information on their prioritisation policy and criteria can be found on their prioritisation page

We are pleased to advise that we are approaching the final phases of the Café construction and associated external works at Horley Recreation Ground. The adverse weather conditions and persistent heavy rainfall have caused some unavoidable delays to the programme timetable but we anticipate that partial handover of the Café build to the Town Council will be by the end of March.
