At a recent meeting of the Visible Services and Streetscene Scrutiny Committee, a number of options regarding parking charges were considered. The committee recommended to revert to free parking along the on-street laybys, alongside the introduction of one- and two-hour short-stay tariffs in the main car parks.
In addition, the committee proposed that enforcement of the current charges be suspended with immediate effect, rather than waiting for the completion of a new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), which may take some time.
A final decision on these recommendations will be made by Cabinet on Monday 4th August.
