Welcome to the latest edition of our South and Vale Business Support newsletter!

The Local Restrictions Support Grant (for closed premises) and the Additional Restrictions Grant (Discretionary Grant Fund) are now both open for applications.

It is important that you read the following information clearly so that you know which grant your business is eligible for. You cannot apply for both grant schemes.
For more details and to apply, please visit the appropriate council’s website via the links below.

Please ensure you apply under the correct district’s scheme.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed Premises) (LRSG (C)) is for businesses that pay rates which have been legally required to close due to the new national restrictions.

This grant is also available to businesses that have closed their main operation but are still offering take-away or click and collect services from their premises.

Businesses with more than one qualifying property will receive more than one grant.

The grant scheme will close at noon on Friday 4 December.

The rate of payment for eligible businesses is as follows:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 per four weeks
  • Properties with a rateable value of over £15k and below £51k, grants to be £2,000 per four weeks
  • Those with a rateable value of £51k or over, grants to be £3,000 per four weeks

To apply for the scheme, please click on the appropriate council’s link below.

Please ensure you apply under the correct district’s scheme. Applying under the incorrect district’s scheme will result in your application being rejected as ineligible.

The Additional Restrictions Grant (Discretionary Grant Fund) has been introduced to support those who are ineligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (for closed businesses).

Eligible businesses are able to apply for a grant of £2000.00.

The grant scheme will close at noon on Friday 4 December 2020.

The scheme is suitable for:

  • Businesses that are legally required to close, but do not pay business rates
  • Businesses that are not legally required to close, but have been severely impacted by new restrictions

Who is ineligible?

As per the government guidance (November 2020), a business is ineligible for this scheme if it:

  • was not trading immediately prior to 5 November 2020
  • is in administration, is insolvent or a striking-off notice has been made AND/OR
  • has already received grant payments equal the maximum state aid limits

Priority Funding

To ensure that those in greater need of financial support receive help as soon as possible, we are prioritising applications from eligible businesses that did not receive funding during the first lockdown.

Prioritised grant applications will be processed and paid each week to ensure businesses receive funding as soon as possible. Remaining applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis following the scheme deadline.

The government guidance on both of the schemes can be found here.

If you are ineligible for the grant scheme, please take a look at our Resources page for additional support.
