Welcome to the latest edition of our South and Vale Business Support newsletter!

We understand that South and Vale based businesses are in need of further support as we begin to recover from the pandemic.

We're currently receiving many messages about the Government's new Restart Grant. We appreciate your patience as we continue to make our way through these enquiries, but in the meantime, we wanted to send out an update ahead of the Easter break.

When can I apply for the scheme?

Our business rates team were hoping to make immediate automatic payments to ratepayers without having to resort to application forms being completed. However, the Government has requested that Local Authorities collect additional information from grant recipients and unfortunately, this means that the team will need to design a new application process for the scheme.

All Local Authorities have also been asked to conduct counter fraud checks on all applicants (old and new) before any payment is made. The agency that all councils use for these checks is unfortunately not operating until 13 April, and so the application form will not be available until the week of the 12 April at the earliest.

Once we can offer more information on how businesses can apply for the scheme, we will send out details in our South and Vale Business Support newsletter.

We understand that the wait to receive the next round of funding is frustrating. We appreciate your ongoing patience whilst we work to implement a scheme that will minimise the administration required for eligible businesses.

Further information

Businesses can now visit our dedicated webpage on the scheme for our update in full, including details on the eligibility criteria and levels of funding.
