SVBS have teamed up with the Networking In... team to bring businesses based in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse a new series of virtual networking events.

The new partnership is part of our drive to increase the opportunities for South and Vale businesses to access local information and expertise in a Covid-19 secure way over the Winter period.

The virtual events will be curated and hosted by the Outside Ideas team and will take place on the second Wednesday of each month, with the first taking place on Thursday 10 November from 10:30 - 12:00.

We encourage South and Vale businesses to join us for the first event as we welcome Mike Lawton, Co-Founder and Director of Oxford Dynamics, to talk about 'Working the media'. Mike is a serial entrepreneur and has previously worked at the BBC. He’ll be sharing some tips using real life examples on how you can work the media without having any budget.

During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to tell your story, listen to everyone else’s, and then have the time to make all the connections you want.

The first 40 businesses to register for this event can claim a half-price ticket for just £5, using the code 'SVBS'.

We look forward to seeing you there for some fun, informal networking!

New Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme

The Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme seeks to provide investment in protected landscapes to help deliver outcomes for the environment, people and place by working in partnership with farmers.

The programme will run from July 2021 to March 2024 and will be delivered by farmers and land managers in partnership with the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Funding will support groups and individuals proposing projects and approved by the AONB FiPL Officer or Local Assessment Panel. FiPL seeks to achieve several outcomes across the four programme themes: climate, nature, people and place.

Further information and guidance for applicants can be found on the North Wessex Downs website.
'Attitudes to Sustainability and Energy Efficiency' - have your say

Ahead of COP26, OxLEP are currently running a business survey on ‘Attitudes to Sustainability and Energy Efficiency’, to build on their current understanding of the views of the Oxfordshire business community, the work already being done as part of the drive to zero-carbon within the county and what more can be done to support Oxfordshire businesses in achieving their ‘green’ ambitions.

Businesses of all sectors and sizes in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse are encouraged to complete the five-minute survey, which closes at 17:00 on Thursday 20 October.

Participants will rank each statement on a ‘strongly agree’ to ‘strongly disagree’ scale.

Visit OxLEP's website to have your say.
