Team SVBS

A word from Ruth Smith, Founder of Sustainable Results Lab and host of our 'Greening the web' workshop...
'While we wait for the world’s leaders to make meaningful commitments at COP26, it’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed by the scale of the climate emergency.

One easy, low-cost way for you and your business to make a difference is to reduce your digital carbon footprint. This is vital because digital technology contributes around 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Fortunately, there are lot of easy-to-implement changes you can make that are good for the planet and your business.

To find out more, join our workshop this Thursday at 10:00 on 'Greening the web' (more details below).

In partnership with SVBS, we’re also proud to be pioneering a six-week campaign to green the web. You can find out more about this below.

I look forward to meeting you at our workshop on Thursday.

Ruth'
The UK is currently hosting the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow until 12 November 2021.

The summit has brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

As nations look to rebuild their economies in the wake of COVID-19, we have seen an emphasis on ‘building back better’ through a green recovery. More and more countries, businesses, and investors are also coming forward with commitments to become carbon neutral by 2030 or 2050.
To tie in with COP26 and help work towards the Councils' carbon reduction ambitions, we are getting ready to launch our Greening the Web campaign, encouraging businesses to reduce their Digital Carbon Footprint with a number of easy-to-implement changes. The campaign kicks off with our 'Greening the web' workshop, taking place on Thursday 4 November from 10:00 - 11:00.
The workshop will be followed by a six-week campaign to highlight the numerous, easy steps we can all take to make our digital presence less harmful to the environment. The campaign will cover:
  • Websites, including structure and content
  • User experience
  • The use of video and images
  • Use of colour
  • Typography
  • Utilising your emails
  • Devices
From Monday 8 November, a free guide on reducing your Digital Carbon Footprint will be available for businesses based in South and Vale. If this is of interest, please get in touch with us.
