From Midday today (Thursday 25 November) to Midday on 16 December 2021, South and Vale based businesses can apply for Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) funding through two new discretionary grant schemes.

1. Start-up Grant

Applications are invited from South and Vale based businesses, operating in any sector, that began trading between the 1 April 2021 and 1 November 2021.

Start-up applicants will be asked to confirm that they have not benefitted from previous COVID-19 related grant support and must also be able to detail how their business intends to use the grant funds to support their future operations.

2. Sector Hardship Grant

Applications are invited from South and Vale based businesses primarily operating in the following sectors, that continue to face challenges caused by the pandemic:

  • Events
  • Travel and Tourism
  • Weddings
And those operating:
  • Breweries, Wineries and Distilleries
  • English Language Schools
  • Nightclubs
  • Theatres, Cinemas, Concert Halls
  • Wholesalers

Applicants must be able to evidence that the majority of their revenue is derived from one of the sector types listed, and will be asked to provide details of the ongoing effect of the pandemic on their business.

Successful applicants will be awarded up to £15,000. The final award amount will be dependent on remaining funding and the number of successful applicants once applications close and assessments have been completed.

Our anticipated timeline for administration of the scheme is below:


Opens:
Midday on Thursday 25 November

Closes:
Midday on Thursday 16 December

Fraud check completion:
December 2021 and January 2022

Eligibility assessments:
December 2021 and January 2022

Decision communication:
February and March 2022


All payments for the schemes will be completed ahead of 31 March 2022.
Please note that we will not be able to provide detailed updates on individual applications during the assessment process.
