On Saturday 30 April, ShopAppy.com, an online shopping platform for local businesses across the UK, launches in Wantage.
On the last day of the month, Wantage Market Place is home to an assortment of market stalls and live music, and this Saturday, members of the ShopAppy team and team SVBS will be on hand to answer any questions throughout the day at our dedicated ShopAppy stand.
The ShopAppy website offers a wide variety of products and services from shops in Wantage town centre and the surrounding area. Local independent businesses that have registered on the website will have their own webpage with listings of their goods and services, enabling customers to browse, book appointments or buy products online.
So far, around 40 businesses from a variety of different sectors in the town have signed up. This includes several local favourites such as the Dolphin Gallery, Hebe Homestore, Umami Deli and Anthony Reynolds Fruiters.

The online service gives customers extra flexibility with early evening click and collect from one central location at The Toy Planet, with easy parking right outside the door.

A note from Jane, Place Partnerships Development Manager of ShopAppy...

‘ShopAppy will be attending the Wantage market on Saturday 30 April to launch our platform for local businesses.

We would welcome local residents and visitors to come along and find out how they can support their local shops and businesses and how easy it will now be to support them through ShopAppy.

Come and find us and let’s get everyone supporting local!'

- Jane Stewart
Absolutely! We are planning to roll out our online marketplace for businesses across South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse.

Keep an eye out for our newsletter, where we'll be sharing details on when we will be launching in a town near you.

We encourage local businesses that are yet to join the platform to visit our website for further details on how to sign up for the scheme.
South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are offering free membership to all businesses and community organisations in the district for the first 12 months, enabling them to reach a wider pool of customers and extending their online visibility.

The platform allows customers to browse virtual shop windows, book appointments and events as well as order products from local stores using a ‘click and collect’ service.
Benefits of creating a presence on the ShopAppy website include:
  • Free presence for 12 months

  • An easy-to-use, straight forward way to get online

  • Learn new digital skills

  • You will have a dedicated Community Support Manager. ShopAppy hosts fortnightly drop-in sessions and there are videos in your welcome emails that show you how to add products and services

  • Access to the ShopAppy Family group on Facebook, where vendors share tips, questions and support

  • If you sell on Facebook, you can add a “Shop Now” button and have an automated reply message in messenger to direct people to your ShopAppy.com profile

  • A marketing reach that a small business could not afford on their own – ShopAppy, the Councils and SVBS will help to market the scheme, business profiles and products/services

  • Customers can benefit from one check out, one click & collect location or one delivery in your town

  • An opportunity to provide a level of convenience with other businesses to ensure loyalty from customers
