Exit Right 2023 is a free expert-led, must-attend event series for any entrepreneur looking to drive their business from start-up to exit.

Following on from the successful 2022 Exit Right events, this year’s talks are from founders and directors who have successfully exited their businesses, as well as M&A experts. Founders will tell you first hand about their exit journey – what went well and what didn’t go quite so well. You will find out the best strategies to employ and what it takes to be one of the successful 10% of businesses that exit – whether it’s through an acquisition or IPO.

The next event takes place on Thursday 25 May at the Wood Centre for Innovation and online, from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

Come and hear the real-life story of start-up to exit from David Llewellyn, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Oxford-based biotech company, DJS Antibodies. Founded in 2014, DJS was acquired by AbbVie in October 2022 for $255m to access their lead IPF programme as well as revolutionary HEPTAD platform. David will talk about how the company started, the knife-edge decisions they had to make along the way, and the key turning points.

We recently secured £2 million from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) which supports investment in communities to increase life chances, support organisations and increase people’s skills.

The funding is split equally between South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, with £1 million available per district.

We are using this money to work towards tackling the climate emergency and to improve community and economic wellbeing.
With most of the funding available from 2024/25, we are now inviting organisations to pitch project ideas that could help to support our plans.
To complete this form, you will need to provide:
  • a brief outline of what your project will involve, how it will deliver the project requirements, and what experience your organisation has in doing such work

  • details of how your project will address our UKSPF priority areas and interventions

  • details of any anticipated outputs and outcomes that your project will achieve

  • an outline budget for your project
Please note - by submitting your ideas, you are not committing to undertake the project, and we are not committed to funding it or to offer funding in this area.

Selling to the councils

The councils buy goods and services from a variety of contractors, ranging from someone who is self-employed to national organisations. To provide cost-effective services for our residents, the councils often operate a joint procurement process, and therefore award joint contracts.

Opportunities to supply your services or goods to the councils are often available, either direct or as a sub-contractor.

If you are interested in selling to the councils, you will need to register on the South East Business Portal.

Please note that contracts for both councils can be located under 'South Oxfordshire District Council'.

A list of current contracts can be found on our website. You can also find information on what the councils need from you as a supplier, standards of conduct, climate and ecological impacts, ethical considerations, legal requirements and more.

Switch Up Your Lunch 2023 - get involved

To encourage everyone in Oxfordshire to make a positive difference to the environmental impact of our food, the Good Food Oxfordshire team are asking people, companies, schools, universities and community groups in Oxfordshire to pledge to eat a vegetarian or vegan lunch on Tuesday 13 June.

In 2022, 22,000 people across 47 organisations took part. By switching up your lunch you’ll be helping to make a difference to the environmental impact of our food in Oxfordshire. If we all make a pledge to eat a veggie or vegan meal regularly, we can help to slow climate change and conserve precious natural resources, whilst improving your health.

If you sign up as an organisation, you will receive a social media pack to help you share your pledge.

Sign up via the Switch Up Your Lunch website.
