Welcome to the latest edition of our South and Vale Business Support newsletter!

All straightforward grant requests which require no extra checks are being processed for payment on the same day we receive them.

We’re now working through the remaining claims and ones that require additional checks, and we are responding to other queries as a matter of urgency.

We estimate that we’ll have responded to all queries by 20 May 2020.

If you have already emailed, you do not need to email again, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you haven't heard from us by 20 May, please get in touch.

Businesses based in South and Vale can still apply for the Small Business Grant Scheme and the Expanded Retail Discount Grant.

Small Business Grant Scheme

The Government is providing additional funding for Local Authorities to support small businesses that already pay little or no business rates because of small business rate relief (SBRR), rural rate relief (RRR) and tapered relief.

This will provide a one-off grant of £10,000 to eligible businesses to help meet their ongoing business costs.

Expanded Retail Discount Grant

The Government’s package of measures to support businesses include grant funding of up to £25,000 for businesses in receipt of the Expanded Retail Discount (which covers retail, hospitality and leisure businesses) which, as at 11 March 2020, have a property with a rateable value of less than £51,000.

The guidance states that:

  • For businesses in these sectors with a rateable value of up to £15,000, they will receive a grant of £10,000

  • For businesses in these sectors with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000, they will receive a grant of £25,000
