New wayfinding signs to be put up across Horley
To help people find their way around Horley, Surrey County Council will be putting up 15 map-based signs around the town. The signs will be in key places like car parks, the train station, the High Street, the footbridge between the High Street and Station Approach, and on Victoria Road. Redundant signs and street furniture will be removed at the same time to reduce street clutter. There should not be any major disruption to road traffic.

The work will start this month as part of the Delivering Change in Horley Town Centre programme. It is a partnership project between Surrey County Council, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, and Horley Town Council.

From the summer, Surrey County Council will be delivering improvement works along the High Street. These works will create a more attractive and vibrant area, making the street one-way for motor vehicles, widening footpaths, improving cycle facilities, adding pedestrian crossings, and introducing new planting and trees. These changes will enhance accessibility, safety, and the overall look and feel of the area, while new public street furniture will provide spaces for socialising and relaxing.

New Defibrillators Unveiled at Town Council Offices and Wilfs Cafe, Horley Recreation Ground
Photo above, Horley Town Mayor, Cllr Martin Saunders unveils the new defibrillator at the Council Offices
Thanks to grant funding from Surrey County Council Councillors Andy Lynch and Jordan Beech, Horley Town Council has been able to make another two defibrillators available in Horley. We now have 5 defibrillators with 24 hour access across Horley. The new ones are sited at the front entrance to the Council Offices, 92 Albert Road and the other is on the car park side of the cafe in the Recreation Ground.

When it comes to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), every second counts. It is a life-threatening condition that can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. That’s why it is essential to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public places. Having easy access to a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death. In an emergency you should call 999 and the ambulance service will tell you what to do. If you need the defibrillator they will give you the box code and location of your nearest one.

Pictured above is the Council's defibrillator page showing all the defibrillators in Horley. The ones displayed in blue have 24hr access.  If you know of any we have missed please contact us
