Council Office Expansion, Sustainability Improvements and Temporary Relocation Arrangements

Horley Town Council is pleased to announce that, thanks to a generous grant from Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, through the Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy Fund we will be expanding the Town Council offices situated on Albert Road, alongside some internal remodelling of the existing building.

This project builds on the Town Council’s successful initiative to expand staff workspace while introducing sustainable, environmentally friendly improvements that will support the Council’s future growth and development as it serves the residents of Horley.

The contract for the building works has been awarded to Arazu Construction Ltd and we expect the construction to begin in early October for a duration of approximately six months.

During this period, the Council will temporarily relocate to alternative office space at Horley Baptist Church, 289 Court Lodge Rd, Horley RH6 8RG. This step is necessary to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and to allow the works to proceed efficiently and without unnecessary delays.

Our staff and councillors will still be available to assist residents and the wider community through our normal contact channels (listed below).  Should you require an in-person appointment, please let us know and will do our best to make suitable arrangements.

Council meetings will continue as scheduled on our website and will take place temporarily at the Church, in a ground floor conference room.  Full details will be published ahead of each meeting and a link to join remotely will remain available on request by emailing: info@horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk
Our New location at Horley Baptist Church
During the construction period, our valued Edmonds Community Hall, an integral part of the building layout, will close.  All hirers have been informed and will receive updates with a reopening date for lettings confirmed as soon as practicable

We look forward to providing further progress updates as the project advances and to welcoming everyone back to the extended and refurbished Town Council offices, once the works are completed.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support

Upfield and Cheyne Walk Roundabout Update

The local residents group have been busy preparing the roundabout for this year autumn sowing and planting. Over the next few months a mix of wildflower seeds and spring bulbs will be planted and sown into prepared beds, whilst Yellow-rattle will be shown directly onto scarified ground to help self-sown wildflower plants establish.
How you can help:

Volunteers are always welcome. There are a range of things you can do to support the project:
  • Are you local to the space? Consider donating spare space in your brown bin for grass clippings when the team are out mowing.
  • Donate wildflower seeds or spring bulbs.
  • Looking for and reporting what insects or birds you’ve spotted on the space.
  • Have you been inspired to dedicate a small space to nature? Get in touch and let us know about a similar project you’ve undertaken in your garden or community green space.
  • And as always we have a range of tasks we periodically undertake. If you’d like to get involved in planting/sowing or managing the roundabout space, get in touch to learn more about what we do and how you can help (contact details below).
If you’d like to help or would like to tell us about your local project, please email Cllr Sam Mearing: sam.mearing@horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk
StreetSafe

StreetSafe is an online tool that enables you to anonymously pinpoint on a map the location where you felt unsafe.

We are encouraging local residents to use the tool to help identify areas where there are fears caused by anti-social behaviour and environment issues including lack of street lighting, abandoned buildings and vandalism. The information provided will be considered alongside the extensive evidence base already gathered by police forces and used to inform the community safety activities of police and partner agencies such as local authorities.

No crime needs to have been committed in order to indicate where local people feel unsafe. It is important to remember that the StreetSafe tool shouldnotbe used to report crimes.
