Horley Town Council's Annual Town Public Forum, was held on 15 May 2026, brought together residents, councillors and community organisations for an evening of updates on local projects and initiatives. The event featured presentations from local charities and community groups, an update on Local Government Reform, and a presentation from Horley Lions Club.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Horley Town Award to Judy Morgan, recognising her exceptional dedication and many years of service to the Horley community.

Notice under Section 123(2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 of the intended disposal of Open Space Land.

Notice is hereby given for the purposes of Section 123(2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 that Horley Town Council, being the owner of the freehold parcel of land described below which is partly held and maintained as an air quality monitoring station, intends to dispose of the said land (described below as the Property) by way of a 25 year leasehold agreement to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council with the intent that the Property shall continue to be used as air quality monitoring station.

Description of the parcel of land

The land and buildings known as Air Quality Monitoring Station located in the Michael Crescent Centenary Park, RH6 8RJ (“the Property”). Further details of the Monitoring Station, including a plan showing the relevant part of the Property edged pink, can be found at Air Quality Monitoring Station Plan and may also be inspected at the Council Offices, 92 Albert Road, Horley, Surrey RH6 7HZ, during normal office hours by giving 48 hours’ notice.

Note: Any objections or representations with respect to the proposed disposal must be made in writing quoting the reference “Air Quality Monitoring Station” and may be sent by email to  info@horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk or alternatively, in the post for the attention of the Chief Executive Officer at Horley Town Council, 92 Albert Road, Horley, Surrey RH6 7HZ to be received no later than 5pm on 23 July 2026.

Redhill Corps of Drums & Band are pleased to announce that Cllr Samantha Marshall of Horley Town Council has agreed to take on the role of President of the band.

On accepting the position Cllr Samantha Marshall, pictured below with some members of the band at a practice session, said "I was delighted to be asked to help the Redhill Corps of Drums & Band by accepting the invitation to be President - it’s a huge honour for me as I’ve effectively grown up with the band. The band has always been so supportive of the Remembrance services in Horley and I am very happy to be able to give something back."

The members of the band would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing President, Peter Rusbridge, for his work in promoting the band during his tenure as President.

The band has just completed a busy summer period culminating in appearing at The National Marching Music Day-Palace Parade Review as part of London Band Week and is now starting to work towards events later in the year, notably Remembrance Sunday in Horley for The Horley Royal British Legion and also a 45th Anniversary Concert to be held on Saturday 14th November. Ticket details will be available soon.

Two Guide units (girls aged 10-14) in Horley are in need of more volunteers; one is in desperate need or the unit may may struggle to run after September.  If you could help us on a Monday or Wednesday, even every other week, please get in touch!

🌟 “I already have a full-time job!” We know. Honestly, same. Most of our volunteers also work full-time… and still somehow manage to find time to remove glitter from their hair on a weekly basis. But here’s the thing no one tells you: Volunteering with Girlguiding is not a second job. It’s not a 40-hour commitment, it doesn’t come with performance reviews, and absolutely no one will schedule a meeting that could’ve been an email. What it is, is this:

✨ A break from adulting

✨ An hour or two of laughter you didn’t know you needed

✨ The pure joy of watching a child proudly show you a craft that… may or may not be upside down

✨ A chance to do something fun that reminds you you’re human, not just a walking to-do list

Most people don’t volunteer because they’re not busy. They volunteer because being busy doesn’t mean you can’t also do something meaningful—or hilarious—once a week. And honestly? Supporting girls to grow in confidence, try new things, and say wonderfully unpredictable stuff like “Can we build a catapult?” is weirdly refreshing after a day of emails and spreadsheets. So if you’ve ever thought, “I can’t volunteer, I have a job!” just remember: You’re not too busy. You’re too important.
