Rainbow and Brownie units in Horley are looking for volunteers
Two Guide units (girls aged 10-14) in Horley are in need of more volunteers; one is in desperate need or the unit may may struggle to run after September. If you could help us on a Monday or Wednesday, even every other week, please get in touch!
Interested but would prefer a younger age group? We have Rainbow (age 4-7) and Brownie (age 7-10) units that meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays that would also be grateful for more volunteers. Register your interest in volunteering using the link, or message me for more information.
Got this far because you're interested, but worried about having time? Keep reading... (Below written by Girlguiding Old Town District)
🌟 “I already have a full-time job!” We know. Honestly, same. Most of our volunteers also work full-time… and still somehow manage to find time to remove glitter from their hair on a weekly basis. But here’s the thing no one tells you: Volunteering with Girlguiding is not a second job. It’s not a 40-hour commitment, it doesn’t come with performance reviews, and absolutely no one will schedule a meeting that could’ve been an email. What it is, is this:
✨ A break from adulting
✨ An hour or two of laughter you didn’t know you needed
✨ The pure joy of watching a child proudly show you a craft that… may or may not be upside down
✨ A chance to do something fun that reminds you you’re human, not just a walking to-do list
Most people don’t volunteer because they’re not busy. They volunteer because being busy doesn’t mean you can’t also do something meaningful—or hilarious—once a week. And honestly? Supporting girls to grow in confidence, try new things, and say wonderfully unpredictable stuff like “Can we build a catapult?” is weirdly refreshing after a day of emails and spreadsheets. So if you’ve ever thought, “I can’t volunteer, I have a job!” just remember: You’re not too busy. You’re too important. And you deserve something in your week that isn’t work… but still fills your cup. 💙If you’re curious, even a tiny bit, drop us a message. We’d love to show you how volunteering can fit into real, busy, everyday life—yours included. 🌟
