Healthy Child Programme Partner Update
AUTUMN / WINTER  2019
Hello, welcome to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Healthy Child Programme Partner Update! It has been a whole year since we launched the joint venture and a lot has been achieved in a very short space of time.

In this update we want to outline some of the great work that has been completed over the past 12 months. ENJOY!
SUCCESS 1: "Creating Team Players"
The creation of joint roles to work across Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. These initially included joint:
  • Infant feeding lead
  • Clinical lead
  • Service lead
  • Service director
Benefit: Illustrates to staff, professionals and families that an integrated service is striving to work in harmony, to provide the best outcomes for children and young people.
SUCCESS 2: “Locality Unification Part 1: North and South”

In Cambridgeshire, the existing areas merged together to make the north and south localities.

This included bringing together clinical databases and different duty desks resulting in two main hubs...
Oak Tree Centre in Huntingdon for North
Peacock Centre in Cambridge for South
Benefit: Simple access to the service for professionals, families and staff. Also encourages multidisciplinary teams, enabling the service to provide a wider range of support and help for families.

SUCCESS 3: “Locality Unification Part 2: Peterborough Completes the Puzzle”

Peterborough was officially welcomed into the service as the third locality; A very important step, as the service began scoping projects to truly integrate both trusts.

Benefit: Simple access for professionals, families and staff, especially those that reside in border areas providing greater choice and support. Further encouraging multidisciplinary teams from different trusts and using best practice to get the best outcomes for all families across the region.

SUCCESS 4: “Growing the Family: Joining Cambridgeshire and Peterborough FNP”

To improve support for all the young families that need specialist help across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.

Standardisation and a 'one team' ethos helped the service understand what was required to increase capacity.

Benefit: A consistent service offer across both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The merging of the service initiated a project to create a pathway to support young parents that do not meet FNP referral criteria.

SUCCESS 5: “Just One Peterborough Duty Desk Number”
The Peterborough locality centralised it's contact phone number for the Healthy Child Programme, bringing together several different teams as one.

Benefit: A consistent
service offer across both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

SUCCESS 6: “Joint Leadership Culture”
Staff from both trusts completed an extensive joint leadership development programme.

Benefit:  Consistent leader relationships across CCS and CPFT promoting a unified learning culture to provide the best service in partnership.

SUCCESS 7: “Young Parents Pathway”

A new pathway designed with young parents for young parents. It supports young families across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough that need help but do not meet the Family Nurse Partnership criteria.

Benefit: An enhanced offer for the Health Visiting service that is supported  by the Family Nurse Partnership enabling joined up working for better outcomes.

SUCCESS 8: Text Messaging for Parents

On the 16 September, the new text messaging service for parents across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough launched.

The service has started with a soft launch approach to help embed new ways of working with families. In January there will be a promotional launch in the community.

Benefit: A new form of contacting the service not available previously. A county wide number to text for advice and support.

SUCCESS 9: ChatHealth Launches in Peterborough!

ChatHealth, a confidential text messaging service for young people aged 11-19 launched in Peterborough. The service is an expanded version of the very successful ChatHealth campaign currently live in Cambridgeshire. There will be a joint promotional campaign in the new year.

To view the social media campaign for ChatHealth, search for this hashtag on twitter, facebook or instagram: #ChatHealthCambsPboro

Benefit: a new young person specific channel to access help, advice and support. Increases the reach of the 5-19 team making the service more accessible to young people.

Those are the main achievements of the joint partnership over the last 12 months. There will be plenty of great news stories to come in the new year. To finish this update, we have a quote from John Peberdy, Service Director for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Healthy Child Programme.
"It has been a rewarding year to work across both our Trusts. I have seen what started as a blueprint of a service transform into an active working partnership filled with enthusiasm and determination. It is a challenge to bring together two cultures and ways of working, whilst there’s lots more to achieve, I firmly believe that if we continue on this path we will get the best outcomes for children, young people and families across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough."

There will be more updates to follow over the next few months. Thank you reading!
