FITNESS TEST FUNDRAISER AT ODIHAM
Following our recent support of a new multi-use games area (MUGA) at RAF Odiham, the PTIs decided to give back by organising a Fitness Test Challenge to raise money for the RAF Central Fund.

Earlier this month, five members of the PEd flight completed an RAF Fitness Test to the highest green standard every hour, on the hour, for 24-hours.

As well as being able to donate towards the event, spectators could also sponsor the PTIs to complete challenges in fancy dress, including characters such as Captain America, Batman, a turkey and more. During the event they also hosted a raffle and games to raise even more money. Completing their challenge the following morning, the team managed to rack up a staggering 9,960 shuttle runs, 4,200 sit ups and 2,400 press ups between them!

A massive THANK YOU to Cpl Jack Rogers, Cpl Luke Bushnell, Cpl Johnny Jenkins, Sgt Michael Barnes and Sgt Christopher Goodwin for being such great sports and raising over £1,000 for our charity!
RAF ARCHERY SUCCESS AT
UK NATIONAL COUNTY CHAMPS
Nine archers from across the RAF recently participated in the 2024 UK National County Championships at the Lilleshall National Sports & Conferencing Centre. The team achieved their best ever result in the competition, collecting a bronze medal in the Mixed Barebow event.

We caught up with Sgt Ellie Spinks and Fg Off Ryan Elkes to hear all about the event and their success.

“For the purposes of UK Archery, the RAF counts as a county, and as such we were pitted against the best archers from each county across the UK. Overall, 370 archers from all around the UK participated in the competition.

We travelled to RAF Cosford the day before for a pre-competition team meeting, before starting the weekend with a qualification phase where each team shoots 72 arrows per archer to get a team ranking. This ranking is then used to map out the next stage of the competition.

Overall, it was an enjoyable weekend for all involved and we are extremely grateful for the support of the RAF Central Fund in helping us to get to where we are today."
