MEET OUR NEW GRANTS & PROGRAMMES MANAGER

HANNAH BOOTH

Hannah has just started with the Fund overseeing our charity’s various support initiatives including our three main grant funding programmes – Association Funding, Enrichment Grants, and Individual Sports Grants. Hannah is no stranger to military charities having worked at the RAF Association for more than eight years in a variety of roles, most recently managing a range of wellbeing services aimed at connecting families and building resilience in the community.
With regards to sport and physical activities, Hannah stays balanced through a range of hobbies, with her sport of choice being equitation, but also enjoys dancing and aerial arts.

Hannah says, “I am thrilled to have joined the Central Fund team and I am excited to get out and about in the community to see how our grant funding enables groups and individuals across all levels of RAF Sport, whilst working to understand wider benefits and impacts of funded activities.”
SECONDARY DUTY OPPORTUNITY
FANCY BECOMING A FUND AMBASSADOR?
We are a small team at the RAF Central Fund in terms of our office staff, but we have an amazing (and growing) family of RAF Central Fund Ambassadors who serve as our conduits on Stations and Units.  They help us identify where our support is most needed, provide support with grant applications, facilitate Station visits, as well as promote the work of our charity and our principal fundraising tool, the RAF Sports Lottery.
We currently have vacancies for Station Ambassadors at the Stations below. So if you are based there and want to support your RAF charity then please drop us an email to marketing@rafcf.org.uk. An interest in sport or physical activity is a bonus and we welcome applications from PTIs.

FACES OF THE FUND - Sergeant Robert Small
Sergeant Robert Small has enjoyed racing karts from a young age so having the opportunity to continue a sport he loves was an incredibly appealing benefit of joining the RAF. Robert talks to us about his experience with Station sport and how funding from the RAF Central Fund is vital to the continued success of clubs like his.

"The RAF Central Fund continue to provide essential support to Station clubs so that they can get off the ground and maintain their kit and equipment. The Fund has been a key supporter of the Brize Norton Kart Club over the years, providing funding for karts, engines, and tools. Without this funding our club, like many others across the Air Force, would not be as successful as it is, and the team would struggle to compete in championships."
Our military charity is proud to support all serving RAF personnel by providing opportunities for them to access sport and physical activities regardless of their role, rank or ability.
Here are some of the reasons why skills developed through sport can create better service personnel:
  • Provides personal and collective development opportunities such as teamwork and leadership skills
  • Builds mental and physical resilience and helps to safeguard the health and wellbeing of serving personnel
  • Provides a safe and welcoming community through which individuals can broaden their interests and support network
