With 2023 coming to a close, we wanted to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a successful year of sport in 2024. 🎄

The RAF Central Fund office will be closed for Christmas from Friday 22 December until Tuesday 02 January. 

Our Sports Lottery will be drawn as usual by Sterling Lotteries during this period, but the winners of the Friday 22 December and Friday 29 December draws will be announced once the team has returned in the new year.

RAFCF CHARITABLE FUNDING IN 2023
2023 has been another phenomenal year of support from the Central Fund to RAF personnel, Stations and Sport Associations. Across the last 12 months we have provided financial assistance to over 12,000 individuals, 50 Associations and 24 RAF Stations/Units.

This support totals over £2.1 million across our collective funding streams, with a 16% increase in awards via our grants programmes. As we head into 2024, we will continue to power RAF Sport and enable all serving RAF personnel to develop their full potential through sport and physical activities.
CENTRAL FUND SUPPORT EMPOWERS NEW SUB-AQUA TRAINING
On 8 December, a group of seven RAF Sub-Aqua enthusiasts fearlessly embraced the icy waters to train four junior diver trainees. Braving the chilly 10-degree conditions, the trainees were bolstered by new dive kits, made possible by support from the Central Fund.

Sergeant Conner Packham said: “I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your generous donation towards our club. Sports diving in the military sits in a precarious situation. Being a tier 4 sport means we are the lowest in the pecking order for funding, but scuba diving is actually an extremely expensive sport to purchase kit, especially for junior ranks. 

Many clubs have had to close their doors in recent years but thanks to generous charities like the Central Fund we are able to offer diving to more members of Brize Norton station, offer diving later into the winter season and afford our trainees better equipment in general.”
