Windsor Castle from the River Thames (French Brothers)
In June 2022, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her special Platinum Jubilee. There are events planned across the UK to mark this historic 70 year reign, with full details to be released over the coming months.

With international travel beginning to open up, a trip to the UK during this extraordinary year is well worth considering within your tour programme. There is much to entice the traveller to the UK and a myriad of themes to choose from to further enhance your tour. To follow are a few ideas to consider including as part of your ‘Royal’ visit:

The Sandringham Estate, is a favourite of the Royal Family with Christmas being traditionally spent here each year. Situated in rural Norfolk, the Estate is enclosed within a large parkland, including a woodland walk and impressive rockeries. The house is open to visitors and gives a peak into the treasures and gifts that lay within a Royal home.

Buckingham Palace has long been the official house of the monarchy. Situated in the heart of London, a visit can easily be included within a stay in the city. The main attractions are the stunning art collection and the attractive gardens, however each year there is a new exhibition focusing on a particular aspect of royal life. (Please note that opening is usually between July and September inclusive).

The Royal Mint
is located just outside Cardiff in the valleys of South Wales. Enjoy a fascinating guided tour with the chance to view the busy workshop and see first-hand the craftwork involved in producing coinage for the UK and other nations. There is also a fantastic exhibition charting the 1,100 year history of the Mint and showcasing rare coins they are now the custodians of.

Balmoral Castle nestles in the stunning Cairngorm Mountains of central Scotland. The Royal Family have this as a private home and as such, access to the house is limited. It is possible to visit the largest room in the castle – the Ballroom, along with exhibitions and the impressive gardens. (Please note that opening is usually between April and July inclusive).

Hillsborough Castle
is the official home of the Royal Family when visiting Northern Ireland. Located approx. 15 miles south west of Belfast, this house has often taken centre stage during the historic political changes the region has seen, and has a fascinating story to tell. With sumptuous interiors and extensive parklands to explore, this lesser-known residence is well worth a visit.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is the UK’s leading gardening organisation. They own many award-winning gardens across the UK, including RHS Wisley near Guildford and the newly opened RHS Bridgewater near Manchester, as well as partnering with a further 200 sites across the UK. They also organise many of the main horticultural shows each year including Tatton Park, Chatsworth and the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

Windsor Castle is one the most iconic homes of The Queen. Located in the heart of the pretty town of Windsor, there is over 900 years of history to explore. It is the oldest and largest continually inhabited castle in the world and has been home to 39 monarchs. The State Rooms, with their many treasures, as well as St George’s Chapel are included in the tour.
