Our new tour is based for five nights at the traditional style, 3* family owned and run Hotel Fischerwirt. Centrally located in the village of Achenkirch, at the northern end of Lake Achensee, known as the ‘Fjord of the Alps’, it is an excellent base to explore the Tyrol and all it has to offer.
A day to relax in Achenkirch. The local shops, cafes and the lake itself are an easy walk from the hotel. Enjoy a coffee at a local café or on the terrace of the hotel, admiring the wonderful Alpine views.
Time to make the short journey to Scholastika and take a late morning cruise on Lake Achensee to Pertisau. On arrival, discover this lovely town including the Vitalberg-Steinöl Museumand Achensee Beer Brewery. Why not enjoy a leisurely lunch before boarding the boat mid-afternoon for the return cruise back to Scholastika.
A full day to explore, beginning with a visit to the regional capital, Innsbruck. The city is famed for its old town with attractions such as the Golden Roof, the Court Church and the Imperial Court Palace. A stop at the historic town of Hall in Tyrol or the renowned Swarovski Crystal Worlds (admission not included) can also be incorporated into this day.
Heading along the lakeshore to Jenbach to board the mid-morning steam train for a trip to popular, bustling Mayrhofen. There’s time to sample and see the sights of this typically Tyrolean town, before travelling back by road through the scenic Ziller Valley. Surrounded by blossoming flowers, stunning mountain summits and hidden waterfalls and on past Maurach, situated on the southern shore of Lake Achensee, back to the hotel.
Tour includes: 5 nights half board in Achenkirch with welcome Schnapps, buffet breakfast and 3 course dinners with choice and salad bar. 1 themed farmers buffet dinner.
