England’s Great West Way links London with Bristol through 500 miles of navigable routes, full of twists and turns and new discoveries, with much to offer visitors.
 
Based on one of the first Great Roads to be commissioned by the Kings of England, the route takes in some of the most iconic sites, historic towns and cities, as well as local attractions that England has to offer. To follow is a suggested itinerary for those wishing to explore along the route and travel through over 3000 years of history.
DAY 1 -
A full day in the vibrant and artistic city of Bristol. Enjoy a guided tour and see the impressive Clifton Suspension Bridge, Brunel’s ss Great Britain and Bristol Cathedral. Enjoy a leisurely lunch before taking a scenic boat trip around the historic dock. Free time in the city before transferring to the centrally located hotel.
DAY 2 -
Transfer this morning to the elegant city of Bath. Start with a guided walking tour of the city centre and a visit to the Roman Baths, Pump Room and the glorious Abbey. An afternoon at leisure to discover the wonderful Georgian architecture, or Jane Austen’s connection to the town, or simply to enjoy the shopping opportunities. Overnight in a centrally located hotel.
DAY 3 - 
Depart Bath for the picturesque village of Lacock, and visit the Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum before continuing to the traditional town of Devizes. Free time here to visit the Wiltshire Museum or Wadworths Brewery and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Travel onto the iconic Stonehenge. Time here to walk around the impressive structure and visit the museum. Detour off the route to stay the night in central Salisbury.
DAY 4 -
Take a morning guided tour of the city’s impressive Cathedral before leaving the city and returning to the Great West Way to explore Windsor. Enjoy a lunch before taking a tour of Windsor Castle which dominates the town. See the State Rooms, Queen Mary’s Dolls House and St George’s Chapel where many of the recent Royal weddings have taken place. Stay the night in the town.
DAY 5 -
Enjoy a morning cruise along the River Thames for fantastic views of Windsor Castle before continuing eastwards towards London. Make a stop at the magnificent Hampton Court, one time home of Henry VIII. Here visit the Tudor Kitchens, Great Hall and the infamous Haunted Gallery. Time given to exploring the wonderful gardens including the world’s oldest maze. Travel into central London and continue your adventure.
