Kirkwall Harbour (Visit Scotland)

Situated just 10 miles north of the Scottish mainland, separated by the Pentland Firth. This archipelago consists of 70 islands, 20 of which are inhabited. With some of the oldest and best preserved Neolithic sites in Europe, the 'Heart of Neolithic Orkney' is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights not to be missed include Standing Stones of Stenness; Skara Brae – known to be older than the Egyptian pyramids; Skaill House; Scapa Flow where the natural harbour served as a vital base for the British Royal Navy in World Wars; the Italian Chapel - a beautiful Roman Catholic constructed by Italian POWs during the Second World War and the Ring of Brodgar – one of the finest stone circles in the world. 

Staying at the harbourside, 3 star Kirkwall Hotel which offers 37 spacious bedrooms, the Harbour View Restaurant and Highland Park Bar, well-located close to the marina and shopping area. Immerse yourself in the vibrant Orcadian capital which has retained its Viking spirit and identity. Enjoy at your own pace, its many historic sites including St Magnus Cathedral, a magnificent red sandstone building that dominates the skyline for miles around as well as the Bishop’s and Earl’s palaces. 

Access to Orkney is with Pentland Ferries with sailings from Gills Bay to St Margaret’s Hope or with Northlink Ferries from Scrabster to Stromness or from Aberdeen to Kirkwall.
 
Tour Includes:  3 nights half board in Kirkwall with full Scottish breakfast and three course choice dinner with tea and coffee. Half board overnights out and return. Return ferry crossings.
