Viareggio is a Tuscan coastal town located overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its origins began as a medieval fishing village before developing in the mid-19th century as a seaside resort, which it’s been ever since. With a sweeping beach front and the Alpi Apuane Mountains as a backdrop, it is loved for great shopping and bubbly nightlife.

Heading out by short Channel crossing and overnight in Saarlouis, travel south into Switzerland then onto northern Italy for the overnight. Continuing on past Milan and Parma to Viareggio for a five night stay.
Take the opportunity to relax with a full day at leisure to enjoy this coastal resort, renowned for its Art Nouveau style. The town’s museums include one dedicated to the annual Carnival and Puccini’s House, where he lived for over thirty years.
A visit to nearby Pisa is not to be missed to see the world-famous leaning tower. Continue to the historic town of Lucca, birthplace of Puccini, ending our day at a local vineyard for a tour and tasting.
A full day exploring the Ligurian coast, overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, taking in Forte dei Marmi, Sarzna and the mediaeval port village of Porto Venere with compact rows of tall, colourful houses, marina and narrow streets with their tiny shops and homes.
Head to the impressive town of San Gimignano, famed for its mediaeval towers where the atmosphere of a fourteenth-century village is preserved. Continue to Volterra, considered to be one of the finest preserved hilltop towns of its kind in the region.
