A leisurely day to follow in Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City. Visitors can take advantage of the great shopping opportunities, in addition to uncovering hundreds of years of history including Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada, the Mayflower sailing in 1620 and the rebuilding of the city following the Blitz in World War II. Enjoy time at Plymouth Hoe, the Barbican and Sutton Harbour, with its quaint cobbles streets and plethora of independent retailers. With embarkation from the Barbican Landing Stage, we include a delightful boat trip with commentary detailing the history and heritage of the stunning Plymouth coastline.
Travel to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, amazingly discovered in 1991 under a blanket of brambles after 70 years of neglect. Many of the original plants have been rescued. Time allowing, visit the delightful village of Mevagissey, one of Cornwall’s most picturesque fishing villages and Fowey, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
