Norway's Lakeland Adventure
Norway’s Telemark region offers magnificent scenery with a high mountain plateau, deep valleys, forests, rivers and crystal clear lakes. It also has a rich cultural heritage. Our hotel is in the lakeside hamlet of Vrådal, a terrific base from which to explore the areas highlights to include The Telemark Canal, Hardangervidda Plateau and the WWII heavy water sabotage site at Vemork.

Straand Hotel, Vrådal
The Straand Hotel is located in Vrãdal village on the north shore of Lake Nisser in Norway's Telemark region. The hotel has been owned and managed by the Straand family for 5 generations. It combines historic charm with great facilities to include a lakeside garden.

Day 1 Fly from the UK to Norway and transfer to the hotel by executive coach. Hotel check in for a 5 night stay.
Day 2 A day at leisure in Vrådal. The hotel has great facilities including a large panoramic terrace, lounge, indoor swimming pool and a wonderful garden that sweeps down from the hotel to the lake shore and beach.
Day 3 A full day excursion featuring the magnificent Hardangervidda Plateau, home to Europe's largest stock of reindeer. We include a visit to the fascinating World War II sabotage site at Vemork, now a museum, to learn about the partisan mission to destroy the Nazi's efforts to create ‘the bomb'. Round off the day by crossing the Telemark canal before arriving back to the hotel.
Day 4 The West Telemark Round Trip. Call into Dalen, starting point of the Telemark Canal, and continue to The West Telemark Museum. This is one of Norway's largest open air museums and also includes the 13th century Eidsborg Stave Church.
Day 5 Today we include a boat trip on the Telemark canal, considered one of the World's most beautiful waterways. We include a journey on one of the historic vessels between Kviteseid and Lunde. This cruise of around 3 hours provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy the wonderful views. En-route pass through lakes, narrow channels and 2 locks.
Day 6 Depart Vrådal and transfer back to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
