Travel to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kongernes Jelling, considered the birthplace of Denmark. Trace the Viking legacy, explore the Monument area and the ancient runestones, the historic Jelling Church and Viking burial mounds. A stop in the historic town of Kolding is recommended.
A visit to the pretty Egeskov Castle is recommended. Considered one of the best-preserved Renaissance palaces in Northern Europe, highlights include the interiors, classic vehicle museum and extensive gardens. On the return, a visit to Funen Village Open Air Museum is suggested with buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Time to head for home with an overnight in Germany and an overnight crossing from the Netherlands to Hull or Harwich.
