Norway’s Telemark region offers magnificent scenery with high mountains, deep valleys, forests, rivers and crystal clear lakes whilst engaging in a rich cultural heritage. Tour highlights include The Telemark Canal, West Telemark Museum and the WW11 heavy water sabotage site at Vemork and you can top this great break off with a visit to Oslo, Norway’s capital.
Traveling from Denmark’s north coast, cross the Skagerrak Sea to Norway, immediately encountering fantastic scenery during the onward journey to Vrådal. Our base is the 3 star superior Straand Hotel, on the shore of Lake Nisser.
There’s a day at leisure in Vrådal. Relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities which include a panoramic terrace, lounge, indoor swimming pool and a wonderful garden that sweeps down from the hotel to the lake shore and beach.
A full day excursion featuring the magnificent Hardangervidda Plateau, home to Europe's largest stock of reindeer. We include a visit to the fascinating World War II sabotage site at Vemork, now a museum, to learn about the partisan mission to destroy the Nazi's efforts to create 'the bomb'.
Experience the West Telemark Round Trip. Call into Dalen, starting point of the Telemark Canal, and continue to The West Telemark Museum. This is one of Norway’s largest open air museums and also includes the 13th century Eidsborg Stave Church.
