Journeying through wonderful scenery to arrive in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and a visit to Rothiemurchus Estate. Meet your ranger for a coach safari. Treasure the best views of the surrounding dramatic landscape and get the opportunity to meet the resident deer and Highland cows. We then head to nearby Dalwhinnie Distillery to take a tour and peek at the ins and outs of a working distillery and savour a tasting.
A highlight for many is today’s journey on one of the world’s finest coast to coast railways. Catching the train from Inverness, travelling along the ‘Kyle line’, in the shadows of mountains and forests, beside bright lochs and wide open moors to the picturesque Kyle of Lochalsh, overlooking the dramatic Isle of Skye. Rejoining the coach, delight in the scenic return through Glen Moriston and Glen Garry.
Fort William is our destination this morning. As we travel along the shores of Loch Laggen, look across to the Ardverikie Estate, location for the filming of ‘Monarch of the Glen’ with the chance to stop in Spean Bridge to view the Commando Memorial, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces. Enjoy some time at leisure before enjoying a cruise on Loch Linnhe with a live commentary highlighting the varied wildlife including Atlantic and Grey Seals that call this sea-loch their home.
