Hidden Gems of the East
5 Days/4 Nights - From £409

Ireland’s Ancient East is a region of legends and stories from ancient times to modern day. Wander down the cobbled streets of medieval towns; see the world’s oldest working lighthouse; explore castles and gorgeous gardens, in addition to visiting cosmopolitan Kilkenny. Tours are based on Sunday departures.

Begin the day in New Ross and a guided tour of the 1840s Dunbrody Famine Ship and its insight and interpretation of the Irish emigrant experience. From here, to the Hook Peninsula to see the world’s oldest operational lighthouse with stunning views from the Hook headland. Johnstown Castle is our next destination, where we include a tour of the Gothic-Revival Castle. Before departing, explore the Irish Agricultural Museum, lake walks and ornamental gardens.

Waterford is Ireland’s oldest city, and there’s an included tour at the House of Waterford Crystal, where glowing balls of molten crystal are blown in front of your eyes. Venture on to the coastal town of Dungarvan, before heading along 'The Copper Coast' and time at leisure in the seaside resort of Tramore.

It’s a short drive to Huntington Castle and Gardens. Built in 1625 and still in the same ownership, a guided tour with a family member will tell tales of this beautiful castle and gardens. On then along the Mount Leinster Heritage Trail, through Fenagh and Bagenalstown, to Kilkenny for time at leisure.

Staying at the 4 star Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, situated on the banks of the River Slaney and just a short walk to the centre of this bustling town. Featuring 100 bedrooms, relaxing restaurant and popular bar lounge where there is regular entertainment.  The hotel does have a lift and leisure facilities, including an indoor pool.
