Located to the south east of London, the county of Kent has much to offer visitors from rolling hills, quaint villages, an extensive coastline and world famous attractions to explore. This county is full of historic castles, impressive cathedrals, award-winning vineyards and world-class gardens. With many sights within easy reach of one another, an itinerary can be designed for any length of stay. With such diverse attractions to include, this area will also appeal to special interest groups. In addition, this region is a major gateway in to mainland Europe, adding the possibility to extend a tour into France and beyond. To follow is a suggested itinerary of the highlights, however there is much more to see and do to create a diverse itinerary for your travellers to enjoy.

Day 1 – Begin your tour at the beautiful Hever Castle and Gardens. This was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of Henry VIII. Here, explore the Italian Garden, the traditional Tudor Garden and the Rose Garden amongst the many areas to enjoy. Travel on to Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill from 1924 until his death. Here you can discover not only his house and personal artefacts, but the studio where he painted as well as the lovely gardens he created with his wife. We recommend staying throughout in the centrally located Maidstone area.

Day 2 – After breakfast travel through the delightful Kent countryside to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens. Here take time to enjoy this traditional Kent Garden, particularly noted for its roses, as well as the museum and surrounding countryside. Continue onto the lovely town of Tenterden for free time to explore, shop and have lunch at leisure. Mid-afternoon, visit the award winning Chapel Down Vineyards for a tour and tasting – with time to visit their shop offering local produce.

Day 3 – This morning visit Leeds Castle, Parkland and Gardens – which has over 900yrs of history on offer, and was a favourite residence of Henry VIII. Take a guided tour of the castle, last owned by an American heiress who hosted lavish weekend parties here in the 1920’s and 1930’s, entertaining famous people of the day – the interior having been kept as she left it. Continue onto Canterbury and meet a local guide for a tour of the magnificent and historic Cathedral which dominates the town.

Day 4 – After breakfast travel to the lovely Pashley Manor Gardens in the south of the county, and enjoy the formal English gardens and lake. Floriade is the Netherlands' once in a decade horticultural event. Staged in Almere, close to Amsterdam and themed around 'The Green City of the Future', this huge expo site is already under construction. Visitors can expect a festival to stimulate all the senses.
The Passion Play is a testimony of religious faith and outstanding tradition. The singing, acting and staging are magnificent. Tours usually combine the Passion Play and a second centre destination. Early planning is essential.
