An update from your local team

 As part of our continuous professional development, some of the Wirral MHST staff are currently undergoing NHS training focused on providing mental health support to children and young people with Autism.  The specialist training takes place over six weeks and helps to ensure that we are always providing the best and most inclusive service possible to our local schools.
World Mental Health Day

The 2021 theme for World Mental Health Day is 'Mental Health in an Unequal World.' As part of this year’s efforts to celebrate we will be making a number of pledges to show our commitment to empowering others and highlighting how inequality can be addressed. These will be available to view on our social media sites. 
At CWP, we are also making a pledge to conduct an event in February 2022 which recognises and celebrates Children’s Mental Health Week. If you would like to be involved in these upcoming activities, please email us at cwp.camhstalk@nhs.net. 
Training Courses for Senior Mental Health Leads 

The Department for Education has made available over sixty five courses for school and college senior mental health leads, to help implement an effective whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing post Covid-19.

DfE is providing grants for up to a third of all schools and colleges to access training in 2020/21, as part of a commitment to offer this training to all schools by 2025.

Early Years Mental Health Support

The Anna Freud Centre is awarded a Department for Education (DfE) contract to develop an online professional development training for early years workers to support their knowledge and skills of Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) in direct response to the coronavirus pandemic. This new initiative aims to train early years staff and narrow the attainment gap in infant and preschool aged children. This £10 million extension to the programme will provide high quality training and professional development support for staff in nurseries and preschools, as well as childminders.
