AI adoption is a mile wide, but only an inch deep

Analysis by Tecvia of the latest AI adoption statistics from the ONS tells an interesting story: adoption has tripled, but depth has barely moved. And across all sectors, the biggest barrier isn't cost, says Tecvia; it's a lack of AI expertise. Of the 35% of businesses that are using at least one AI technology (up from 12% three years ago), 46% of them have given no staff any AI training at all. Further, there is very little real spending on AI; for most businesses, "adopting AI" means a free tool and a subscription rather than a technology within that is part of the budget. And across the manufacturing sector, 42% of businesses have made no investment in AI at all.
