Automation offers a solution to manufacturing’s recruitment challenge

Employment is back to pre-pandemic levels, but the Institute for Economic Studies says there are clear signs that a weak labour supply is holding back growth. Tempting the 1.8 million or so people who are currently outside the workforce back into employment is offered up as part of the solution, but automation must have a key role to play, too. For machine builders, there are surely opportunities to demonstrate how increased automation can mitigate recruitment and retention challenges.
