Looking to servitisation for revenue opportunities

With a recession that extends through 2023 and beyond into 2024 looking inevitable, pressures are going to remain on manufacturers to reduce costs. For the machine building community, that clearly presents a threat – but perhaps, too, an opportunity. Servitisation might be one of my least favourite words, but there is much to be gained by embracing the philosophy of transforming from a business that simply offers innovative machines to one that also provides innovative and invaluable services. The implementation of service contracts or provision of remote diagnostics are obvious examples, but are there more? Finding those opportunities could prove key in staying close to customers in what could otherwise be a challenging couple of years.

With best regards

Due to the constant update in both winding and magnet technologies, motors can go into NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) status and eventually become obsolete. It is a standard process to replace older motors with more modern options, perhaps for a more compact design or for competing lead times or pricing.
