Budget leaves skills gap unresolved

Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s latest budget and spending review announcements promised much, but what did they deliver to our industry? According to Stephen Phipson, chief executive of Make UK, while there were “some welcome announcements on business rates and the extension of the annual investment allowance, the announcements on skills amounted to little, if any, new money”. All of which signals that keeping the pressure on government remains paramount, if our greater expectations are to have any prospects of being achieved.

With best regards
