Government must act to address skills shortages

With 75% of firms reporting that they’ve been hit by labour shortages in the last 12 months, the CBI is calling on the government to take action in the spring Budget to address the problem. It says initiatives are required in addition to tackle business investment and boost green growth. CBI lead economist Ben Hones said: “We may have avoided a technical recession late last year, but we probably won’t avoid one this year. While we expect that the downturn will be shallow, if we act now we can make the recession even shorter than predicted.”

With best regards
