Near-shoring to build supply chain resilience

It’s interesting, chatting with colleagues, the number of recurring themes that crop up. This week, for example, I’ve spoken to a number of different people who all report that they are growing tomatoes – many for the first time – as a direct response to the UK shortage. And there are parallels in industry where it is becoming ever clearer that the best way to drive up supply chain resilience is to have sources of supply that are much closer to home. Hence the shift in tone voice to something now much more serious and deliberate in the re-shoring and near-shoring debate. It does feel that the tide is turning in what, for many years, was a drive to move production to or source products from the lowest cost locations.

With best regards
