Government needs to grasp an opportunity

The industrial market is now looking decidedly uneasy, according to analysts at MHA, with downward revisions in growth projections, a shortage of skilled labour and rising borrowing costs. To instil confidence, MHA is adding its own voice to those of everyone else in our sector in calling for government to implement a long-term manufacturing strategy. Andrew Matthews, partner at MHA, said: "The government should grasp the opportunity to create a supportive environment for UK manufacturing, allowing them to not only weather the storm but also flourish."

With best regards

Can active control help tiltrotor aircraft fly faster?

A new study at the University of Bath is investigating how rapidly deploying spoiler-like devices, called mini-tabs, could help future eVTOL designs fly faster. Mini-tabs could aerodynamically counteract the damaging vibrations caused by whirl flutter – a catastrophic instability that occurs at high flight speeds. Maxon has provided the motion solution to test the effectiveness of mini-tabs on a novel wind tunnel test rig.
