Is there still an education job to do to promote automation?

The skills gap in manufacturing is getting steadily worse, with one in three project managers citing it as a key problem within their business. This is according to a new survey from the Association of Project Management, but I’m hearing the same story from a number of different sources. Asked what they were prioritising to address the challenge, the project managers surveyed highlighted apprenticeships, upskilling, wider recruitment and additional training. But automation didn’t seem to be part of the picture. So I wonder if our sector still has an educational job to do, to highlight how automation can transform the manufacturing process and mitigate the skills shortage.

With best regards
