Opportunities for the year ahead

The CBI’s most recent surveys suggest that this year has started better than last year ended, with expectations for manufacturing in positive territory. Firms remain under pressure, but Anna Leach, deputy chief economist at the CBI, argues that there will be multiple growth opportunities across the UK economy this year. But there will surely need to be action and support in the Spring Budget if those opportunities are going to be fully realised.
