Skills crisis highlights need to invest in automation

Data shows that there are currently some 64,000 vacancies in manufacturing, which Make UK estimates is costing the sector £6bn in lost output. And these latest stats come just as the sector is starting to see green shoots of growth. Even if the next government takes dramatic action to drive a revolution in skills, the crisis isn't going to be solved any time soon, again giving weight to the need for manufacturers to talk to machine builders about making the best investment in automation.
