Government must give businesses a reason to grow
The headline news within our sector has not been encouraging of late; first MakeUK highlighted that the UK has fallen out of the top 10 manufacturing nations, and then the CBI released the results from its latest Industrial Trends Survey, revealing a fall in output volumes for the three months to August. To cap it all, this week prime minister Keir Starmer has said we will all need to bear the burden of short term pain for long term gain. Firms, though, have made it clear to the new government that they want to see action to shore up demand and give businesses a reason to grow, says the CBI. We'll all be hoping for some meaningful measures in the autumn Budget.
With best regards
