Priorities for manufacturers as they plan for the future
The UK manufacturing market is forecasted to expand 12% by 2033, which represents a change in gear for a sector that has recently struggled to grow. What was once “future thinking” is now the baseline for competitiveness, but smarter factory transformations will be driven not by a single breakthrough but by the convergence of data, AI, sustainability, connectivity and new workforce capabilities. Toby Mankertz, Manufacturing Industry Director at Columbus UK, argues that the next three to five years will reward organisations that build strong data foundations, re-examine their processes, invest in their people and adopt technology with clear purpose. Not because it is fashionable, but because it solves real operational constraints. These will be critical priorities for UK manufacturers as they plan for the future.
With best regards
