The new EU Machinery Regulation and the requirement for an economic operator

With the new EU Machinery Regulation replacing the Machinery Directive on 20 January 2027, machine builders exporting to the EU have a lot to think about, and one new section in particular requires non-EU suppliers to have an economic operator (EO) established in the EU. Indeed, Hold Tech Files has noted from a lengthy section in the paperwork that says that, without an economic operator, manufacturers are prohibited from placing products on the market in the EU, and without one specifically named on the paperwork, there could be lengthy and costly delays when a machine is held at the border. This, it is suggested, is something UK machine builders should get a handle on sooner rather than later.
