Welcome to this special edition of the CAPS Independent Advocacy newsletter! This time we focus on two big events coming up that we'd like to invite you to!
October 2024 special edition
CAPS Independent Advocacy AGM: please support us by coming along!
We welcome everyone to this free in-person event. The AGM is a lovely celebratory get together – a Friday afternoon in sunny Musselburgh! You’ll be able to chat and connect with members, Collective Advocacy group participants, staff and of course CAPS management committee and professionals from organisations including our funders and commissioners. It begins with a tasty free lunch at 1.15pm with the AGM beginning at 2pm. 

This year we’ll be hearing about an important community history archive hosted by the Oor Mad History Collective Advocacy project at CAPS, with items going back to the early days of ‘mad activism’.

Do you have experience of mental health issues? Do you want to meet like-minded people in a relaxed atmosphere? The People's Conference is an annual event run by and for people with mental health lived experience in Edinburgh and the Lothians. 

This year the theme of the conference is ‘lived experience’ and we’ll be discussing whether experience of mental health issues is valued in consultations and design of services. You can expect interesting discussions, speakers and an informal atmosphere. It is free to attend and we promise a nice lunch! Further details
