Winter Warmer Appeal

Help enable communities to access a warm space, warm food and experiences that warm the heart

11,000 children in Brighton struggle during the school holidays therefore, a nutritious meal and an enriching fun day in a warm space will mean the world to local families this Winter.

That's why we need your help to reach more children and families into 2023.

Christmas is a time of year when we can reflect on how together, we can help communities. Therefore, we're teaming up with Chomp Moulsecoomb and Chomp Bevendean to offer free family sessions to bring people together who are living below the poverty line and feeling the edges of
the cost-of-living crisis.
"We are a family with divergent needs and low income,
and coming to these sessions means we can take part in things and give the children chances to just be kids and enjoy themselves."

Your donation of £10 will ensure a family session can be supported by
two volunteers.
Your donation of £25 funds two families to access a free social outing.
We’ve seen that when families are heartily fed and given the opportunities to be interactive, connected, and creative - they can thrive.

Pre-pandemic, 85% of children in Moulsecoomb Primary School already relied on free school meals, and holidays can be especially hard if you depend on these and the sociability of school life.

Chomp Moulsecoomb and Bevendean both run sessions in some of the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the city, combining nutritious food with a warm, nurturing space; with Gladrags lifting spirits with their joyful blend of dressing-up corners and textile crafts.

Can you help?

In East Brighton, 1 in 3 children live below the poverty line, compared to 1 in 6 across our city.

That is why we’ve set an ambitious target to raise £4000 this Winter.

This will enable our three organisations to work together to create further opportunity and stability to deliver enhanced & engaging family sessions and FREE trips out for families.

Your donation of £50 provides the ingredients of a dinner offered to
9 low-income families.
"Family sessions provide a safe social space that enables families who are currently struggling to come out of their isolation and come together. As well as making friends, they can share information on local support schemes they can access. Chomp can fill a whole day in the holidays. Free, fun activities and having a hot and healthy lunch can mean a lot to a local family struggling in this cost of living crisis."

community-led family sessions.
