Just days before, during national Community Rail Week, the partnership organised a similar trip with March-based charity FACET, supporting adults with additional needs to also give the train a try.

Could you lead a dementia friendly exercise class and bring joy to your own and others' lives?

As Active Fenland seeks to provide free training to more people willing to lead dementia-friendly seated exercise classes in Fenland, we caught up with someone already doing it.

Julia Mallett, 61, of Walpole Highway, said: "This is the best thing I have ever done.

"I would recommend to anybody to do the training and get a group going because it is fantastic."

Julia's career was predominantly spent in retail, but caring for her late husband after a brain tumour left her feeling an affinity with people living with dementia.

Active Fenland is keen to collaborate with more individuals and organisations with staff or volunteers interested in training to bring 'Love to Move' sessions to more people across Fenland.

Warning not to put batteries in household waste bin after fire in refuse lorry

Firefighters douse tipped refuse

Residents were reminded to dispose of batteries and electrical items responsibly - and never put them in bins - after a fire broke out in a refuse lorry.

Crews were collecting bins in the Elliott Road area of March when they noticed smoke coming from the back of the lorry. It's thought a battery was the cause of the fire.

Batteries should be taken to local recycling centres, or, for household batteries, many shops have collection bins in-store.

Batteries, of all kinds, whether loose or hidden in electricals - should never be placed in your waste or recycling bins at home.

Fenland refuse teams shift waste equivalent to more than 6,000 elephants a year

Fenland's refuse service collected waste equivalent to more than 6,000 elephants in weight in the first 11 months of the last financial year.

The team collected 37,000 tonnes of domestic and commercial waste to the end of February, a report before Fenland's full council  at the end of last month said.

Garden waste and recycling accounted for more than 40 per cent of that - but we want to see even more going into blue bins.

Concerns raised over illegal advertising of Botox treatments in Fenland salons

Fenland beauty clinics are being reminded that it is illegal for Botox treatments to be advertised to the public after concerns were raised with Fenland District Council.

The council's Environmental Health team is sending advice to all beauty clinics in the district within the coming weeks to remind them that botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox) is categorised as a prescription-only medicine (POM) and as such, cannot be advertised to the public.

Adverts for POMs breach Rule 12.12 of the Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code and the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (HMRs). This applies even if the POM is administered by a registered medical professional.
