Landlord and property manager prosecuted for "despicable" illegal eviction of family
A landlord and property manager who illegally evicted a family from their home in Wisbech have been successfully prosecuted by Fenland District Council. Wisbech Construction Ltd director, Jamie Punton, and his property manager and local businessman Arslan Anjum, both from Wisbech, were found guilty of unlawfully evicting a tenant from a property in Cherry Road. The eviction, which took place in February 2024, left the family - including young children - without shelter and their belongings scattered on the driveway. Wisbech Splashpad reopens for summer fun
Families can once again enjoy a summer of water-filled fun as Wisbech Splashpad is open again. Fenland District Council's popular play facility in Wisbech Park, Lynn Road, Wisbech PE13 3AB, is open daily from 10am to 5pm, with free entry for all. Since its launch in 2022, the splashpad has been a much-loved attraction for residents and visitors alike, offering a variety of water fountains and jets to keep children active and cool on hot summer days. In March 2025, the Council's Cabinet committed to making the facility even more appealing and accessible by agreeing a further £60,000 investment. Planned improvements include the installation of a shaded seating area, new benches, enhanced water features and a programme of landscaping works to further improve the surroundings.
