Residents are being invited to share their views on Fenland District Council's draft Business Plan and Budget, which proposes the eighth consecutive year of no increase in its element of council tax.

Health report published on Saxon Pit industrial site

A report considering if there are any health concerns in relation to operations on a Whittlesey industrial site has returned its recommendations.

The Cambridgeshire County Council Public Health report into current operations at Saxon Pit makes several reassurances and suggests further evidence would be useful to fully assess other aspects.

Sally Cartwright, Director of Public Health at Cambridgeshire County Council, said: "We want to strengthen the evidence base to provide further reassurance."

Fenland sets course for new Local Plan ahead of planning reforms

Fenland District Council has withdrawn its emerging Local Plan ahead of a new national plan-making system coming into force early next year.

The decision gives the Council the opportunity to prepare a new Local Plan in line with the latest legislation that better reflects the needs of people across the district.

Members agreed to formally withdraw the current emerging Local Plan at Full Council in December.

£1.5m revamp for play equipment in Fenland's parks

Play areas across Fenland are to get a £1.5million revamp, Fenland District Council's Cabinet has agreed.

Detailed plans are to be drawn up in consultation with elected members and communities across the district to identify where the money can be best used.

The Council will fund the project through an award from the Government's Pride in Place Impact Fund. The funds must be invested by March 2027, Cabinet heard.

Fenland District Council responds to latest plans for the Fens Reservoir

Fenland District Council has submitted its response to Anglian Water and Cambridge Water's latest consultation on the proposed Fens Reservoir.

The Council says the project could bring major benefits to local people and the wider region — but only if key issues are properly addressed.

The Council supports the idea of a new reservoir in principle, recognising the need for a reliable long-term water supply. It says more work is needed to make sure the project delivers for our communities, protects the environment, boosts the local economy and fits well within the Fenland landscape.

Options to improve Whittlesea Railway Station

Fenland District Council is inviting residents, businesses, and rail users to take part in the next stage of consultation on the future regeneration of Whittlesea Railway Station.

In October, the Council launched a survey on how people use the station to help unlock funding for station improvements.

Now, it would like people's views on the options for improvement, which include a new pedestrian bridge and platform extensions, and improved public areas and car park.
