Is it time to plan and enhance your Summer term STEM curriculum? What can Engineering Educates: Robotics Challenge offer you and your learners? 

Today we share news and feedback from the first Engineering Educates Exhibition event, to help you make sure you're getting the most out of the campaign. Read on to find out the impact on both teachers and learners, get tips for delivering the Challenges, and snap up opportunities to get involved.
Primary and secondary learners from across Greater Manchester took part in the first Engineering Educates Exhibition event at The University of Manchester. Introduced by Prof Andy Weightman, Chair of the UK-RAS (Robotics & Autonomous Systems) Network, and supported by engineering students and postgraduates, the event was a great success. 
All learners engaged in hands-on practical learning, whilst also gaining an understanding of the Engineering Design Cycle and applying engineering habits of mind.
Select the Challenge that best fits your curriculum objectives and the interests of your class. 

Some learners focused on aspects of the Design & Technology curriculum through the Motion in the Ocean Challenge, with KS2 pupils using their knowledge of levers to create grabbers, and KS3 pupils using mechanical systems to mimic natural movement of ocean creatures.

Others applied their skills of coding to program microb:bits in the context of rehabilitation through the Re-engineering Rehab Challenge
Teachers said they left the event feeling more confident to deliver the Robotics Challenges back in school and had a better understanding of how engineering skills can be incorporated within the Design & Technology, Computing and Science programmes of study.

A celebration of collaborative learning - The Exhibition
After a bonus demonstration from the Robotics Department, the event came to a conclusion with an exhibition of learning outcomes. Learners presented their design specifications, prototype products and evaluations to each other. The objective was to provide a platform to demonstrate their understanding of the Engineering Design Cycle, and to confidently communicate their creative solutions to real-world problems. They did a brilliant job!
