I’m also very pleased that Fiona Broadbent has joined us as our Interim Service Director for HR, Organisational Development and Performance. You can read more about Fiona later on in this newsletter. Please give her a warm welcome to the Council.
County Hall
We’re starting to plan much needed work on the roof of County Hall. This summer, working with our partners Gleeds, we’ll be carrying out surveying work to design a tender process to identify specialist contractors who can deliver the project.
It needs to be planned really sensitively as County Hall is a Grade 1 listed building of exceptional national interest. The interiors, materials and craftsmanship of the building are particularly important, so making the building watertight is critical to protecting these features for future generations.
Customer Service
It’s been great to launch our new customer experience strategy. It focuses on providing great service. For everyone. Every time. You can read the full strategy here.
Providing the best service we can – whether it’s to internal or external customers – is part of all of our roles. So the strategy is just the start of our journey on this. We’re now going to be working to develop updated customer service standards. Reviewing key customer-facing processes. And providing a new training offer for you to access.
Thanks to everyone involved in driving this work forward. And to all of you who provide great service for our customers every day.
And finally…
Another important piece in the jigsaw of our plan to attract more people into our city centre was announced this week. In a boost to our leisure and entertainment offer, the UK’s leading bowling operator is investing in Wakefield at Trinity Walk.
The development will increase footfall, create jobs, and support growth in the local economy. All great news for our ambitious plans for the city centre.
